In the gentle hills of Ancona, close to the Conero Riviera, lies an ancient land where many castles were once entrusted with the defence of the city of Ancona.
Its territories, which is bordered by the Esino and by the upper Musone, includes the five municipalities of Agugliano, Camerata Picena, Offagna, Polverigi and Santa Maria Nuova and it stands out for its ancient traditions, important historical artistic testimonies and cultural activities of great importance.
The Paolucci Museum and the fifteenth-century Rocca of Offagna, the International Theatre Festival, the churches and the many works of art of Polverigi, the fluvial park of the Esino and the fortresses of Castel d’Emilio and of Cassero di Agugliano and Camerata Picena, the archaeological area of Santa Maria Nuova, all constitute the heritage that characterise the territory where, in 1202, the Marche’s most important medieval peace accord was drawn up.
Traditional regional shows are also held each month of the year and there are infrastructures such as parks, cycle tracks, a motorcross track, a skating rink and a lake for sportfishing, distributed throughout the municipalities.
