Paddling from Portonovo toward the heart of the Conero Riviera is a sensory experience that
blends the intense blue of the Adriatic with the dazzling white of the limestone cliffs of Mount
Conero.
Here's how this adventure unfolds:
The Classic Itinerary to the South
Starting from Portonovo Bay, we head south along the promontory. Along the way,
you'll encounter iconic stops:
- The Tower and the Church: As soon as you set off, you'll admire the 18th-century De Bosis Tower
and the charming Romanesque church of Santa Maria di Portonovo from the sea.
- The Scoglio della Vela: A huge sail-shaped sea stack rising from the water, a favorite destination for diving enthusiasts.
- Wild Beaches: After the Vela, the coast becomes unspoiled. You'll encounter the Sassi Bianchi
and Spiaggia dei Gabbiani, quiet coves accessible almost exclusively by sea.
- The Two Sisters: The final destination with a stop. These twin sea stacks protect one
of the most beautiful beaches in Italy, perfect for a regenerating break.
- 7 km round trip, which can be shortened if the group is not suited to
navigation or the sea conditions are unsuitable.
- Departure at 9:30 am, meeting with the guides, initial briefing on canoe management,
distribution of paddles and life jackets (mandatory), crew training.
- End of activity at 12:00/12:30 pm
- Cost per participant: €40.00

Church of Santa Maria di Portonovo
Built by the Benedictines around 1034, it is a Romanesque masterpiece, isolated between the green
