Cristoforo Roncalli known as Pomarancio

Cristoforo Roncalli, known as  Pomarancio. He was a pupil of Circignani, known as well as Pomarancio, from which he took the name.



With a wide and imponent style, he brings in his clear painting traits of Tuscan Mannerism and themes of Caravaggio’s naturalism.

In the Conero zone he worked above all in Loreto, where he made frescos on the dome of the Basilica della Santa Casa (then painted again and the frescos moved to the Museo del Tesoro) and the precious vault of the Sala del Tesoro, called Sala del Pomarancio.

Last but not least, the magnificent ceiling in the Salone delle Feste of Palazzo Gallo in Osimo.

Il Pomarancio had influence in all the zone with his school, in effect both in Camerano and Potenza Picena we can find scattered paintings that remind us his style.
