He born where he stayed the Holy House of the Virgin Mary before being taken Loreto
“Chiesetta della Banderuola” in Porto Recanati
Before finding its own position on the Loreto hill, “Santa Casa” has passed through a lot of vicissitudes that now have taken a special place in the history and legend of the town.
But we reckon only few people know about the presence of a tiny bucolic church, with a remarkable spiritual and religious value, immersed in the wheat fields in Scossici and not so far from Porto Recanati.
We’re talking about the “Chiesetta della Banderuola” and its curious name “Banderuola” find references in the flag that once indicated the way for the Santa Casa in Loreto to the fishermen and sailors from Porto Recanati.
This church has actually risen here right because among these farmlands in 1924 the “Santa Casa della Madonna” found its place for a while before having been moved in Loreto, as said before.
The current church was built at the end of ’40 with a greek cross plant and a dome covered with colorful majolicas.
If you are ready and willing, take the bike in Porto Recanati and follow the cycle path that starts in Marco Polo street for a daytrip in the countryside of Conero area… and why not, take part in the Mass that begins at 9 o’ clock each Sunday morning.
The “Chiesetta della Banderuola” is particularly suggestive during the summer season (since May) when the worshippers wait, strolling in the little garden, for the evening blessing rite that is accompanied with a unique nocturnal procession.
