Description
The Church of San Filippo Apostolo, also known as "de' Plano," located in Casenuove di Osimo, holds numerous secrets, some of which are still to be unveiled...
It is an ancient Templar preceptory, a historically documented Templar stronghold, which is the most significant in the Marche region, both in terms of territorial extent and the influence exerted by the members of the order who were present here during the time they administered it. It was built in the 13th century.
Historical documents mention it as far back as 1187, when the Templars received in emphyteusis (long-term lease) from the Osimo Diocese the Church of San Filippo Apostolo and the surrounding lands extending to the Musone River and the present-day hamlet of Passatempo: it represented a vast, fertile, and profitable area of 350-400 hectares in a strategic location between a once navigable river to the Adriatic and the commercial routes of the Salaria and Flaminia. When the order was suppressed in 1312, the Church passed into the hands of the Hospitallers of St. John, who renamed it the Church of Saints Filippo and Giacomo.
Curiosity
Crossing its threshold, many particularly sensitive individuals describe an immediate sense of well-being. At a special point within the building, where the natural radiation of the ground seems to concentrate, many claim to have found relief for rheumatic pains and headaches simply by sitting there for about twenty minutes.
