Archaeological museum of Marche - Ancona

The museum, documenting in prehistory and early history of the Marche region

Archeological Museum of the Marche

At the foot of Guasco hill, rises one of the most important aristocratic palace of Ancona, Ferretti Palace, location (from 1958) of the Archeological National Museum of Marche.
By crossing the doorway, a journey will start right away from prehistory to Ellenic period. You will be pleasantly enchanted by the perfect reproduction of the Bronzi Dorati of Cartoceto of Pergola (PU). They represent the only sculpted group in golden bronze left from the Roman Age. You will also have the chance to see the most current complete proof of picenum finds, the population that gave the Marche an ethnic and cultural entity.
You will bewitched by Andromaca e il Ratto di Proserpina by Pellegrino Tebaldi and carry on the visite with your eyes focused on the marvellous vaults of the “Salone del Caminetto”, frescoed by Federico Zuccari with fantastic landscapes and views of roman monuments.
Ended the tour, you really should visit the “foro romano” in front of the palace’s entrance and the evocative ruins of roman amphitheatre in Birarelli street: the perfect conclusion of this journey in the history of Marche area.
