Just arrived in Sirolo, even before to pass the doorway for the city center, you will be undoubtedly seduced by the marvellous 19th century theatre, all made of white stone originated from the Monte Conero.
The peculiarity of the Cortesi Theatre is that the structure is completely nested in the fortification walls of the town.

The inner room used for the plays presents the classic horseshoe form and it’s adorned with an arcade of doric columns, two orders of dais with 220 total seats.
It’s right in this room that the winter season of plays takes place, with a rich variety of theatrical performance, prose shows and concert.

During the summer the spectacles move to the natural stage of the Cave theatre of Sirolo, dug in the inside of the ancient caves of pink stone of the Conero.

Upon entering, we recomend you to direct your gaze to the ceiling... you will look at this shining chandelier made of glossy crystals, in the center of the rose window.

The square in front of the theatre is dedicated to Franco Enriquez, a great opera director with florentin roots but emotionally attached to the Marche due to his relationship with Valeria Moriconi, his fiancée and actress from Jesi.

During the month of August the Cortesi Theatre will host a famous national prize, in memory of the director Franco Enriquez, passed away in Ancona on the 30th August 1980.
