Theater "La Rondinella" in Montefano
A precious theater candy in the hills of Conero
“The Rondinella” theatre in Montefano is a classic example of small and cozy theatre in the Conero area. Built at the end of ‘700 almost completely in wood, it was the perfect response to the growing interest for melodrama showed by the citizens of Montefano. At the end of ‘800 it was rebuilt to match it with liberty style lines, using this time iron and its alloys.
The project’s realization was curated by the engineer Virgilio Tombolini, at that time technical director at “La Fenice” theatre in Venezia.
From the ceiling painted with frescos by Bruschi painter, some muses peek out. Talia and Melpomene protecting tragedy and comedy and Euterpe and Tersicore inspiring lyric poetry and ballet.
The theatre is situated at the upper floor of the town hall and you can reach it by way of a wide staircase. Right before the entry, you will find an elegant foyer called “Poet’s room”.
So here you are, ready to take your own seat in the parterre or in some sumptuous dais with cast iron balustrades.
