The park is located in an area of ​​64 hectares in a former gravel quarry. Today, it is a protected oasis providing shelter for various species of animals and birds.

A foot and bike path connects the centre of Porto Potenza with Laghetti Park, and the next sections run alongside the Potenza River, crossing 5 towns up to Macerata and offering a suggestive hilly panorama and the opportunity to admire the archaeological areas of Potentia and Helvia Recina.
