"Museum Diocesano" in Ancona
Located in the former Bishop’s Palace in Ancona, the “Museo Diocesano” houses in chronological order a collection of religious artwork exhibited in 19 rooms. It also hosts a coin collection dating from the Greek-Roman period to the contemporary age, as well as a sacred ornament exhibition dedicated to the “Tesoro del Duomo” (Cathedral Treasure).
The “Museo Diocesano” is one of the oldest museums in Italy and was founded in order to preserve and enhance the artistic heritage of the San Ciriaco cathedral and the diocesan territory.
