The patrol path of the Loreto Sanctuary
The Sanctuary of Loreto is a veritable citadel of faith
Throughout the years, the Roman popes built high fortresses to protect the Holy House of Mary and defend it against the invasions of the Turks who often plundered Loreto and its treasures. The Shrine has become a citadel of faith and the wall walks that retrace the same path used by the ancient medieval guards to patrol around the castle are now open to the public. It takes about 45 minutes and offers a breathtaking view of the entire Conero Riviera.
